Activity Fees
The Kingston student government receives an activity fee from full-time and part-time students enrolled in one or more of the fall, winter, and summer semesters. This fee will be used by the student government for such things as:
- Operation of the student administrative office
- Leasing of computer labs
- Support of athletics
- Sponsorship of committees and clubs such as the Ontario College Marketing group, peer advisory, support of residence activates, etc.
- Student events such as orientation, children’s Christmas party, Remembrance Day activities, Student Appreciation Day, etc.
Bus Pass Fee
The bus pass fee enables all full-time students to access Kingston Transit. Part-time students, who qualify, with the minimum academic hour requirement, can also purchase a bus pass.
Student Insurance Plan
Am I covered? What is the effective date of my coverage? Registered full-time students are automatically enrolled in the health plan at the beginning of the semester they start classes.
What if I am already covered? You may decline coverage for the Health and Dental plan. Please check the Your Student Insurance Plan booklet for deadline dates. You must provide proof of similar coverage elsewhere (i.e. as a dependant under your parent's or spouse's insurance). Go to www.aclassociates.com/slc.htm and fill out the on-line opt out form. Please note that you will not be able to opt out of this plan if you miss the deadline date at any other point during the school year. No paper opts will be accepted.
What is the termination date of my coverage?
Termination dates are based on the semesters that students attend. Fall semester runs from September 1 - December 31. Winter semester runs from January 1 to April 30 and summer semester from May 1 - August 31. Coverage terminates at the end of the semester for which students are registered as full-time, fee-paying students.
How do I opt out of the Health and Dental plan?
Checks out the ACL website for opt out dates. Please note that Opt out dates are FIRM. Access the online form here.
